Subject: That Russian Winter
Russ Morgan and his orchestra present a song from Irving Berlin's 1942 musical, "This Is The Army," the plot of which was set during WWI, but which acted as a morale-booster during WWII. A film of the same name was made the following year and starred George Murphy, Joan Leslie, and Ronald Reagan, among others. "That Russian Winter" somewhat comically narrates the effect of the harsh Russian climate on Hitler and his troops. Clearly integrated into Berlin's song are snippets of "Song of the Volga Boatmen."
